Welcome to the Cognition, Affect, and Psychopathology Lab at Hunter College of the City University of New York. Our mission is to map candidate mechanisms underlying stress states and stress-related disorders by integrating tools from cognitive science, neuroscience, neuroendocrinology, and clinical science.

In the short-term, we examine perception (cognition), arousal and valence (affect), and stress states on the continuum from normative to maladaptive (psychopathology). Our distal goal is an enhanced understanding of the neural and behavioral mechanisms underlying the onset and maintenance of symptom episodes in posttraumatic stress disorder, with an ultimate goal of prevention.

As we pursue these goals, we will help train the next generation of psychological scientists in a rigorous multi-method approach to neurobiology of stress and stress-related disorders.
